May Workshop: Intro to Project Management!
At this one day intro session, participants learned about general project management concepts and terminology; a project management lifecycle methodology including phases and processes; and gained access to documents and tools to support project management.
May Speaker Event: Stephen Sheppard: Visualizing local climate change impacts and policies with GVRD communities PLUS CEP's Annual General Meeting
Dr. Sheppard led us through a very visual presentation on how climate change may impact our communities. The Local Climate Change Visioning Project envisions alternative climate change futures in B.C. The project uses GIS and 3D visualization to engage local experts and decision-makers in envisioning four dramatic yet defensible local climate change futures. CEP's Annual General Meeting was well attended.
CEP at Globe 2008 Conference:
CEP was proud to be a key partner in the Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders - a workshop held on March 14 as part of GLOBE 2008. The Forum focused on building the next generation of policy thinkers, entrepreneurs and community actors. The Forum was an initiative of CEP – the Vancouver Chapter of the Young Environmental Professionals (YEP) group, the Delphi Group, the University of Waterloo and the GLOBE Foundation, and was followed by an evening networking reception.
February Speaker Event: Epiphany, Serendipity, and the Genesis of Ecological Footprint Analysis - Featuring Dr. William Rees. Dr. Rees provided a packed crowd with insight into his career path, the path that led to the concept of the Ecological Footprint, and his more recent research directions.
February Workshop: Networking! This workshop featured a brand new format, with a shorter, morning session, including breakfast! Cindy Willick, a strong facilitator and speaker provided us with key strategies for enhancing our networking skills.
January Speaker Event: Current Trends in the Environmental Industrial - Frank Came, Executive Director of the BC Environmental Industries Association, shared with us some current trends in the environmental industry, what capacities and skills are needed in today's hottest environmental businesses, the scope and opportunities on the Canadian scene and what lessons he learned during his varied career in the environmental field.

November Green Business Panel - Featuring Some of the City's Green Entrepreneurs (Offsetters.ca; Tum Tum Tree Designs; Frogfile)
This event featured green business entrepreneurs from around the City, in a panel discussion format. They illuminated their road to becoming 'green business entrepreneurs' – career paths, highlights, and most interestingly: what made them decide to "go green".

Participants acquired the skills they needed to improve each stage of a meeting and tools to bring out the best in the groups they work with. This was our third time hosting Charles and, as always it was a success!

Our September CEP speaker event featured Peter Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC). Peter gave an inspirational talk on the steps that he has taken in his career that led him to his present role at MEC. We learned about the challenges and rewards of running one of Canada's leading retailers that is committed to improving its sustainability practices.

• Speaker: Hon. Mayor Hugh O’Reilly spoke about Whistler’s journey to sustainability, the reasons sustainability is essential for Whistler, how the community has adopted the Natural Step framework, and the key challenges and lessons learned during Whistler's ongoing journey, January 26th.

• Social: CEP Winter Holiday Party, a chance for members and friends to celebrate the holidays. The event featured entertainment (music, dancing and a magician!), environmental door prizes, and yummy food, December 15th.
• Workshop: Work-Life Balance, Laying the Ground for Sustainability: Life & Business Coach Julia James led a hands-on workshop that helped participants examine balance in their life, explore areas ready for improvement, discover choices available to them, design action steps toward more balance to reduce their stress and to increase enjoyment, November 17th.
• Workshop: Facilitation Skills: Charles Holmes of Facilitation Training Inc. led this one-day workshop on facilitation skills, from improving each stage of a meeting to bringing out the best in a group, October 14th.
